Many have seen or heard my ads for free yellow jacket and hornet removal. They wonder if this is some sort of gimmick to get an exterminator in their house. Why in the world would someone want yellow jackets and hornets? The answer is simple. I collect these ferocious little beasts for a Medical Lab. The Lab takes them and extracts the venom to help people who are allergic to stings. They use the prepared venom for many purposes. It helps determine how allergic a person is. The venom is also used to help desensitize a person to stings so that if they are stung again the reaction will not be quite so severe. Collecting the yellow jackets and hornets is dangerous work. They are aggressive when protecting their nests. Have I been stung? Actually, I have been stung far less than you'd imagine. Every sting is painful. Some species hurt worse than others. I am doing a public service. It is a win/win/win situation. The homeowner wins because they get rid of the dangerous pests. The Lab wins because they get their venom. I win because I get paid for high quality bugs. The insects have to be alive and not sprayed with any insecticide. I have to freeze them quickly and never let them thaw. If they thaw, even for a moment, they are no good. After careful collecting, freezing, cleaning they are shipped to the Lab in dry ice. How can we help each other? Please call me if you find a yellow jacket or hornet nest on your property. You may find a round paper nest anywhere from the size of a softball to a large basketball. You may find others flying in and out of a hole in the ground. Still others may be coming out of a crack in your house. If you do find any, be extremely careful. These insects can become very aggressive at a moments notice. If you agitate a nest, get away as soon as possible. Don't swat at them. Fast movements attract attention. If you find them flying in and out of a nest call me immediately and I will come to your home as soon as I can. I will be receiving hundreds of phone calls so please be patient. I will get back to you. Of course, keep children and pets away from the infested area. You may want to take some fencing or find some other way to mark the area. They should not bother you if you move slow and not hit their nests. Please don't spray them with any insecticide. Insecticides are dangerous to you and the environment. Besides, the insecticide will not effect many concealed nests. I cannot collect any that have been sprayed per order of the FDA. If you've done any reading on the composition of these sprays, you will appreciate that I don't use chemicals. When you call and get my answering machine, leave your name, number and a brief description of the nest. When I call back I will need directions to your house and coordinate a convenient time to collect. Many times I can come even if no one is home. If the nest is located in a high place, please have a ladder ready. Also, I will need a power source. A simple plug or extension cord will suffice. You can also help by telling others about this public service. Word of mouth works best. Please tell friends and family. Even tell strangers. Any free advertising you do for me will be a great help. Yellow jacket season is just around the corner. So please make a note of my e-mail address norman@freeyellowjacketremoval.com and web site www.freeyellowjacketremoval.com. You may not have any now, but wait. There is a good chance you will have a nest on your property. Save this information. You never know when you might need it. |
