Norman Patterson, Jr. grew up in Burrville, Connecticut.  He was a beekeeper as a boy. He learned about collecting yellow jackets from a beekeeping magazine when he was in college. He took up part-time collecting in 1996. He has been on television with Channel 3 and Channel 8, was interviewed by WTIC and WZBG, and had feature stories written about him in the Register Citizen, Winsted Journal, Waterbury Republican, and The New York Times.

Norman has been a Christian for over 32 years.  He has a BA in Philosophy from CCSU and received his Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1987.  He has been a pastor for over 20 years along with serving 4 years as the Chaplain at the Master’s School in West Simsbury, CT.  Rev. Patterson is an ordained elder in the Covenant Presbyterian Church and now pastors the Covenant of Grace Church a Reformed, Presbyterian, Family-Integrated church in New Hartford, Connecticut. He is a regular contributor for Homeschooling Today Magazine.

Norman resides in New Hartford, Connecticut with his wife Debbie and their 4 children.
